In May of 2003, Kensington Glass Arts, Inc opened the first full size horizontal tempering plant in the state of Maryland, and began serving the entire Washington-Baltimore region. From the very beginning, the focus was on providing high quality product with aggressive lead times.
We installed a TamGlass 84" x 144" horizontal tempering furnace, a 72" x 120" flat bed CNC shaping and edging machine, a 14 spindle straight-line edging machine, a cutting line with 108" x 144" capacity, and a double drill machine. Since that time we have doubled our drilling and fabrication capacity and improved our quality control department with wrapping capabilities and a washer for completed work. We have quickly became the area's leading provider of heavy glass, specializing in custom fabricated glass products in 3/8", 1/2", 5/8” and 3/4" thicknesses.
We have steadily expanded our product offering and were the first to regularly stock low iron glass. We were also on the forefront of the industry in stocking and tempering acid etched products, both in full surface and specialty patterns. We have become stocking distributors of numerous product lines that are both innovative and creative. Most recently we began stocking 5/8" thick glass.
We are always working to improve our processes, our lead-times, and our product offerings. We look worldwide for leading edge technologies and product advancements which we present to both the Glazing and Architectural Communities. We believe that glass is an incredibly versatile and misunderstood material and that the future evolution for it's use is boundless and growing rapidly. We're excited to be a part of that process and help act as a bridge between glazing and design professionals.
